DAY 2: THE WORD
Read John 1:1-5.
To be called The Word, it almost sounds like a rap slang out of the 90’s (1990’s that is). But Jesus is called The Word strange as it may seem. Why do you suppose the apostle calls him The Word? Part of the answer is found in 1:18 which reads, “No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side (that is, Jesus), has made Him known.” Jesus came to earth to make the Father known to us. He is the Word on the Father. He is the Word on truth. He is the Word on everything that is of God, from God, for us. So often we are tempted to listen to the words of the world and to the unhealthy thoughts planted by Satan. But the Bible says Jesus’ words have final authority, because He is The Word. Jesus has the final word on all matters.
To consider: Consider your life – what you’ll do today, what you’ll do tomorrow, etc. What does Jesus say about you and your life? What would He have you believe and do in accordance to His word, which has ultimate authority whether we like it or not? His words are truth. Believe them for your life!
